Etched Plaques

Etched plaques are the go-to choice for plaques that require precise detail for fine text, images or other intricate custom artwork. Chemical etching allows us to transfer virtually any design onto brass, bronze, copper or stainless steel. Etched plaques are a lower-cost alternative to cast plaques, while still delivering a high-end look.

Seattle Signs offers four gauges of metal for your etched plaque: 1/16”, 1/8”, 3/16” and 1/4”. Artwork can be either raised or recessed, and backgrounds can be painted any single color or combination of colors. (Available standard painted colors are the same as for cast plaques, which can be viewed here.)

Brushed finish is standard, but polished finish is available on recessed copy plaques. There is also the option for beveled edges for gauges 1/8” and up. Maximum dimensions vary by material.

For smaller plaques (up to 24” x 36”), a machine-etching process called Metal Image. Although only available in stainless steel, Metal Image offers several advantages:

-Greater detail than chemical etching
-Porcelainized stainless steel is impervious to nearly all conditions
-Less expensive than etching
