How long does it take?
Permitting can take anywhere from 2 – 6 weeks depending on how busy the permitting office is and how complex your sign is. When the sign is over a sidewalk or street a Department of Transportation permit is required in addition to the building permit. We can make a temporary sign if you need a sign ASAP. You can find more information on this website: http://www.seattle.gov/sdci
The actual time it takes to create the sign depends on the type. The most common is Aluminum flat sign: https://signsofseattle.com/aluminum-signs/ These are a great value and usually take a few days to make and can be installed within 2 weeks once we’ve received approval on the permit with the city.
3-D Building signs require more fabrication and assembly and take about 3 weeks to complete once we’ve received approval on the permit with the city.
